Are you headed to IASPM in Calgary later this month? If so, we invite you to join us for a workshop!
Do you want to publish your IASPM paper? Do you want your publication to be accessible to a broad audience—both within and beyond the academy? Then we want to work with you!
We are seeking volunteers who are interested in workshopping their IASPM papers or publication ideas at “Public Scholarship as Social Justice: Dis/Ability and Accessible Writing,” a workshop hosted by Felicia Miyakawa and Alexandra Apolloni, taking place from 12:15-1:15 PM on Saturday, May 28 during the 2016 IASPM-Canada/IASPM-US meeting. Participants will have the opportunity to receive feedback on their work from workshop facilitators and attendees, with the goal of working towards accessibility, broadly defined. We will work with you to make your prose more accessible to non-scholars, and to implement strategies that will make your publication accessible to readers with a diverse range of abilities.
If interested, please submit a 1-page description of the paper or project that you’d like to work on in the workshop, and what your specific goals are in participating. (ie: What are your publication goals for this piece? What feedback would be most helpful to you?) You may also send us a copy of your conference paper, if you have a draft complete.
Submit materials to Alexandra Apolloni at firstname.lastname@example.org by Sunday, May 22, 2016.
